Volunteer Roles
Pack 67 enlists the help of parents to help deliver a quality Cub Scout program. We ask that parents commit to support the pack in at least one of the roles listed below. Parents taking on formal roles as registered leaders receive robust trainings and are required to complete youth protection training. Most parents are responsible for helping with more than one activity or role, since there are several that require little time and effort.
Chartered Organization Rep
Commitment: 2 year (min) Timeframe: Year round
Committee Chair
Commitment: 2 year (min) Timeframe: Year round
Responsibilities: Oversee the administration of the pack, which includes the following: Chair monthly committee meetings, co-lead annual program planning meeting, oversee setting annual budget and expenditure, process new member and leader applications, ensure training completion of leaders, work with Cubmaster to fill vacant positions, and file annual chartering documents and activity logs.
Cubmaster
Commitment: 2 year (min) Timeframe: Year round
Responsibilities: Oversee the pack program, which includes the following: Attend and report at monthly committee meetings, lead monthly Pack meetings, mentor and support den leaders, co-lead annual program planning meeting, communicate with pack about program, oversee advancement and awarding, and work with committee chair to fill vacant leader positions.
Den Leader
Commitment: 1 year Timeframe: Year round
Responsibilities: Plan and conduct bi-weekly den meetings, track advancement, and communicate and reinforce participation in Pack-wide activities.
Treasurer
Commitment: 2 year (min) Timeframe: Year round
Responsibilities: Maintain checking account and provide reports to pack committee.
Communications Chair/Secretary
Commitment: 1 year Timeframe: Year round
Responsibilities: Maintain website and Facebook group and page for both recruiting and informing current members. Create and distribute recruiting flyers in schools and churches. Send out regular (monthly) emails to the Pack about upcoming activities, volunteer needs, and Pack news.
Welcoming Chair/New Member Coordinator
Commitment: 1 year Timeframe: Year round
Responsibilities: Connect with potential and new scout families. Conduct welcome meetings. Serve as main contact for new families in the Pack.
Advancement Chair
Commitment: 1 year Timeframe: Year round
Responsibilities: Work with Cubmaster and den leaders to approve and order scout awards via Scoutbook.com, attend monthly committee meetings, represent the pack when needed, and assist with 2-deep leadership.
Popcorn Kernel
Commitment: 1 year Timeframe: August to November
Responsibilities: Attend Council meetings, communicate details, sign up for and lead show and sells, collect orders, order/return popcorn, distribute orders.
Community Service Coordinator
Commitment: 1 year Timeframe: Year round
Responsibilities: Responsible for communicating with Pack regarding current community service efforts and pursue new opportunities. In addition to Scouting for Food, we participate in Toys for Tots donations and wrapping, making Jared Boxes, and participating in Scouts Trash the Trash clean up.
Camping Coordinator
Commitment: 1 year Timeframe: Year round
Responsibilities: Communicate info to Pack starting in January, coordinate district presentations, set signup deadlines, collect and submit registration forms and payments to Council, collect health forms, coordinate 2-deep leaders attending camp.
Pinewood Derby Chair
Commitment: 2 year Timeframe: November to January
Responsibilities: Set up and test track and software. Assign helpers to run the races, impound, garage, registration, set up and clean up for the night of the event. Distribute rules, cars and best practices to Scouts and families. Can also plan building workshops and practice runs if desired.
Pinewood Derby Concessions
Commitment: 1 year Timeframe: December/January
Responsibilities: Solicit gift cards from local grocers. Set menu and pricing. Send signups for donated food. Purchase (with gift cards) other foods. Create/update signage. Assign helpers. Bring change to the event.
Duck Derby and Family Picnic Chair
Commitment: 1 year Timeframe: August/September
Responsibilities: Reserving pavilion space. Sending signups for potluck needs. Purchase and prepare pack provided food (burgers, pizza, drinks, etc). Purchase paper goods for the event. Coordinate with Troop 367 to help with Duck Derby. Create signup at the event for Duck Derby.
Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Commitment: 1 year Timeframe: October
Responsibilities: Plan and conduct pumpkin judging during the course of the October Pack meeting.
Bowling Night
Commitment: 1 year Timeframe: December
Responsibilities: Arrive 30 minutes before the event to reserve lanes for Scouts.
Scouting for Food
Commitment: 1 year Timeframe: October to November
Responsibilities: Be in contact with MNUMC and Troop 367 to discuss flyering and collection plans (very similar each year). Communicate neighborhood assignments with den leaders and recruit additional helpers to supplement scouts and their families.
Summer Activity Coordinator
Commitment: 1 year Timeframe: June to August
Responsibilities: Plan and coordinate our kickoff summer event.
4th of July Parade
Commitment: 1 year Timeframe: June to July
Responsibilities: Register pack to participate (May or June), communicate meeting times and sign ups for adequate adult leaders. Decide whether to bring water or if we wish to decorate a vehicle, etc.
Summer Outdoor activity (Hike, etc)
Commitment: 1 year Timeframe: July/August
Responsibilities: Plan and lead a summer outdoor activity
Scout Night at the Spikes
Commitment: 1 year Timeframe: July/August
Responsibilities: Collect signups and purchase tickets.
